Japanese bookstore chain Kinokuniya, the new space on the sixth floor of centralwOrld, boasts over 2,000 square meters, marking it the biggest Kinokuniya branch in Thailand, and has a café dedicated to specialty coffee.
The store comprises the main store space and a kiosk area. The challenges and key design considerations for the main store include the layered slanted ceiling, which is a mixture of light and timbered ceiling. The ceiling design does not necessarily follow the shelving layout, thus, it is challenging to keep a clean and organized lighting arrangement with adjustable downlights and still be able to focus on the bookshelves. The layered ceiling was also carefully detailed so that the indirect lighting was also functional, softening the accentuation.
